What is Morse Code?

Morse code is a method of transmitting text information as a series of on-off tones, lights, or clicks that can be directly understood by a skilled listener or observer without special equipment.

The Morse code is an alphabet consisting of six dot symbols and one dash symbol. The most common sequence in Morse code is "dit dit dah".

It was invented for use with the electric telegraph in 1837 by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail.

"What hath God wrought" was the first official message sent by Samuel F.B. Morse on May 24, 1844, to open the Baltimore-Washington telegraph line.
